Are you too fat, too thin, or do you have a good BMI?

With the BMI Calculator on top of this page you can calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) by filling in your height and weight and then click the button 'Calculate'. Depending on the result, go to the Menu on the left of this page and click the corresponding link to find out if you have a good BMI, or that you are over- or underweight.

Do you have a good BMI? Great, keep it up! Medically speaking there is no need for you to lose weight! However, maybe you still want to get rid of a few annoying pounds on your tummy or legs, then read on.

Are you too thin, despite all the food you eat? In that case you certainly should not lose more weight! Also, it is wise to make an appointment with your family doctor to have this investigated to find out the possible causes for your being underweight and what to do about it.

Is your BMI a bit high or too high? Then certainly read on, as this website is meant for people who want to loose weight but also want to go on eating nice food.

More about the Body Mass Index (BMI)

picture

Hi, I am Anita Samsom, the wife of doctor Samsom. My Body Mass Index (BMI) is 22.4 and that is just in the middle of the range for a good BMI. As you can see on the picture, I am not fat but also not thin. The abbrevation BMI stands for body mass index. This means the percentage of fat in your body. Your BMI is dependent on your height and weight. That is understandable: someone who is tall will have a higher BMI than a short person, without being overweight. Also, people with a lot of muscle mass, such as athletes and bodybuilders, may have a higher BMI without being too fat. In other words: measuring your BMI only gives a good indication of being overweight or otherwise.

Cooking nice healthy meals is one of my hobbies. With creating my own healthy, tasty recipes I keep myself on a good BMI. I also create healthy, slimming but tasty diet recipes for patients who consult my husband because of their overweight problems.

Medically approved slimming

Nowadays more and more people, including children, are overweight: they are too fat, their BMI is too high. Being overweight is actually of medical concern since it can seriously affect a person's health. The health problems that stem from being overweight go far beyond those we usually hear about, such as diabetes and heart disease. Being overweight can also affect a person's joints, breathing, sleep, mood, and energy levels. Below the Menu table on the left of this page, I give you some tips for medically-approved slimming, while you still can keep eating nice and tasty food.
